Halle custody update

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
According to TMZ: TMZ has learned Halle and her lawyers, Neal Hersh and Judy Bogen, prevailed in court today -- as both she and Gabriel stood by while their lawyers argued before the family law judge. We're told the issue had to do with the custody agreement the couple signed. There's a provision in the agreement dealing with how much time each of them gets to spend with Nahla when Halle shoots a movie. Halle is going to Europe soon to shoot a flick, and Gabriel and Halle were arguing over the "movie clause" -- specifically, how they're supposed to divide their time with Nahla. We're told the judge bought Halle's interpretation of the "movie clause," meaning Gabriel won't get as much time with Nahla as he wanted.

DMX jailed...AGAIN!

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
DMX just proved, “Groundhog Day” is more than a movie — it’s a lifestyle for scofflaws. Law enforcement tells TMZ … the rapper was arrested again, after being pulled over last night in Arizona for driving 102 mph in a 65 zone. And for good measure, Mr. X was driving on a suspended license … so cops arrested him. He was booked for speeding, reckless driving, and the suspended license — and has since been released on bond. FYI — DMX has now been busted 10 times in Maricopa County, AZ. Back in 2008, Sheriff Joe Arpaio famously made the rapper — along with his fellow Tent City Jail inmates — sport a pink jumpsuit.

Finally out with it

Talk show host Chelsea Handler finally admits it: This time the late night TV host has admitted to having had intimate relations with the rapper. “We were friends. We’re not friends really anymore. I haven’t spoken to him in a while… We had sex,” Handler revealed. “It was fun. I’ve told other people. Don’t feel special. You feel special? Well, I’m not gonna lie…I’m not interested in motherhood at all,” Handler said. In the new issue of Us Weekly a source close to the situation told the magazine: Chelsea Handler dumped 50 Cent just before the holidays, leaving the 35-year-old rapper “heartbroken.” Determined to win her back, 50 Cent — who was first spotted canoodling with the “Chelsea Lately” host in October — “spent Christmas sending her gifts, but she sent them back. She put a note on one that said, ‘I can buy my own gifts.’” Source

Jay-Z vs. Lil’ Wayne has begun… Check out Jay-Z original shot that started this fiasco from his “H.A.M.” track with Kanye West: “I’m like really half a billi nigga, Really you got baby money / Keep it real with niggas, Niggas aint got my lady money.” We all knew Weezy would respond to this shot but the question was “When?” Wait no longer!! Check out what Lil’ Wayne had to say about Jigga man off of his most recent leak off “Tha Carter IV” entitled “IT’S GOOD“: “Talkin’ ’bout baby money, I got your baby money / Kidnap your bitch, Get that ‘how much you love your lady?’ money.”

Fresh prince back

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
There was a time, not so long ago, that Will Smith was the brash young star, selling millions of records and crossing over to charm audiences on television and in movies. The former Fresh Prince has spent the past few years ensuring that his two kids, Jaden and Willow, followed in his footsteps, and now, a few hair whips and karate kicks later, he’s back to working on his own star. Already in the midst of production on the third “Men In Black” film, word is that Smith is headed back to the music studio, as well. “We’re working on Will Smith, bringing him back. That’s actually him on the other line right now,” Lamar “Mars” Edwards told XXL Magazine by phone in a story that ran Thursday. Having printed hit after hit in the late 80s and early 90s as part of the Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince duo, and then branching out into his own hip hop pop career with hits such as “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” and “Miami,” Smith hasn’t put out an album since 2005′s “Lost and Found,” which touted his return to rapping and hip hop, as it had been three years since he had released an album. In addition to the recording, word is that Smith is in early talks to join another new film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Night at the Museum” director Shawn Levy is working to secure Smith for a lead role in his remake of the 1966 sci-fi adventure movie, “Fantastic Voyage.” Although the absence hasn’t been quite as pronounced as his musical interlude, Smith hasn’t appeared in a film since a pair of pics in 2008, “Seven Pounds” and “Hancock.” Source

The Help cleaning up

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
LOS ANGELES (AP) — "The Help" continues to clean up at the box office, taking over the No. 1 spot with $20.5 million in its second weekend. The DreamWorks Pictures film starring Viola Davis, Emma Stone and Octavia Spencer in a drama about Southern black maids had debuted in second-place a week earlier. "The Help" raised its domestic total to $71.8 million and bumped 20th Century Fox's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," which slipped to No. 2 with $16.3 million after two weekends at the top, according to studio estimates Sunday. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" remains a solid hit, lifting its domestic total to $133.8 million. Much as Kathryn Stockett's novel "The Help" became a best-seller through readers talking it up, the film is holding strong as audiences tell friends to go see it, said Dave Hollis, head of distribution for Disney, which releases DreamWorks films. While revenues often drop 50 percent or more in the second weekend for big studio films, receipts for "The Help" were down only 21 percent from opening weekend. "It is a rare feat to see a film not open at No. 1 and then become No. 1," Hollis said. "To me, it's a testament of it being a great film, as well as the viral nature of the word of mouth about it." A rush of new movies had weak openings: the Weinstein Co. family sequel "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" at No. 3 with $12 million; Lionsgate's action remake "Conan the Barbarian" at No. 4 with $10 million; the DreamWorks-Disney horror-comedy remake "Fright Night" at No. 5 with $8.3 million; and Focus Features' literary adaptation "One Day" at No. 9 with $5.1 million. Overall domestic revenues slid for the first time in five weekends. Receipts totaled $124 million, down 3 percent from the same weekend last year, when "The Expendables" led with $17 million, according to box-office tracker Hollywood.com. Other than "Fright Night," the new movies were panned by critics, and audiences were apathetic about all of the newcomers. "This is the reason the term dog days of August was invented," said Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian. "Other than the 'The Help' and to some extent 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes,' everybody else got beat up this weekend. This was one of those really slow, turn-movie-theaters-into-a-ghost-town weekends." Three of the new movies — "Spy Kids," ''Conan the Barbarian" and "Fright Night" — had the benefit of higher-priced 3-D screenings, but none were able to capitalize. Robert Rodriguez's fourth "Spy Kids," featuring Jessica Alba as an agent whose step-kids get in on the espionage action, also added odor to the picture with scratch-and-sniff cards handed out to viewers so they could smell what the characters were smelling. The gimmick failed to pack in crowds, though, with the sequel's revenues coming in at barely a third of the $33.4 million debut for the last "Spy Kids" flick in 2003. "Conan the Barbarian" stars Jason Momoa as the fierce warrior played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1980s original. "Fright Night" features Colin Farrell as a vampire going after a neighbor (Anton Yelchin) who discovers he's a blood-sucker. Based on David Nicholls' best-seller, "One Day" casts Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as friends in a decades-long romantic dance that plays out on the same day each year. With solid reviews, Disney executives thought "Fright Night" would offer a good mix of scares and laughs for fans in their late teens and early 20s. But distribution boss Hollis said "Fright Night" fell victim to an issue that has troubled studios all summer: How do you bring out younger crowds when they have so many personal entertainment options, from video games to downloading movies? "What happened here has been a problem for the industry for a long time, and that's just how do you crack the nut with young adults?" Hollis said. "They've been increasingly finicky." Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Where available, latest international numbers are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Laptop power down

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Laptop battery wearing down? In this week's episode of Upgrade Your Life, Yahoo! News' Becky Worley shows us how to help batteries last longer ... and what to do when they run out! First, the basics Most laptops use batteries that can last for 3-5 years, or about 1000 charges. (A premium laptop's battery might last longer.) Every time you charge your battery, the total capacity of the battery is diminished. Originally it may have had a run time of 3.5 hours, but after a year it'll run out of juice at 3 hours, even on a full charge. If your battery capacity has diminished, there are a few things you can do about it. First, you have to correctly gauge how much capacity has been lost. There are free downloads to do this job, like Battery Bar (for Windows PCs) or Coconut Battery (for Macs). These will compare your battery's current maximum capacity to how long it lasted when it was new. (UPDATE- we originally recommended Battery Eater and while the program works great, their download site has been compromised and we are recommending an alternate program, Battery Bar downloadable from CNET.) Calibrating your Battery You can't miraculously reconstitute your battery's capacity. It loses power over time due to chemical reactions taking place in the battery, as it chugs along powering your laptop. You can't undo those changes, but there is one common battery issue you can fix: In many laptops, the operating system's battery meter gets out of sync with how much juice the battery actually has. Imagine if the gas gauge on your car dashboard was misreading how much gas you actually had in the tank. You'd either run out of gas when you thought you had a quarter of a tank left, or you'd be filling up too frequently. In your laptop, this can mean your laptop shuts down abruptly when the meter says you have 30 minutes left. Or else the meter might warn that you only have 2 minutes of battery life left and shut your laptop down, when it really has another 20 minutes remaining. Recalibrating gets the battery meter to correctly read the current state of the battery, so you and the operating system know where you stand with existing battery life. How to recalibrate First, charge your laptop's battery to full, and leave it that way for at least two hours. Then unplug your laptop, and set its power management settings to never turn off or lower the monitor brightness. (HP has instructions for how do to this on Windows 7 and Vista, as well as Windows XP, while Apple has instructions for Mac laptops on their site.) You want to drain the battery completely, then let your laptop sit for at least five hours this way -- like, say, overnight. (Just be careful and mute the volume, since some laptops make a warning sound when they're about to run out.) Afterwards, charge it up again, and you should notice a more accurate portrayal of your battery capacity. In some cases, you may even get more life out of it. Best practices to maintain battery life You'd think that the best way to keep your laptop's battery from wearing out is to not use it. Right? As it turns out, batteries are like muscles; they need to be worked out regularly to stay healthy. Ideally, you'd use your laptop unplugged at least once a day, like on a train or bus commute or on the couch in front of the TV. If you're not going to use it, constantly charging your battery is a bad idea; HP recommends on their website that if you're going to leave your laptop plugged in or put up in storage for more than two weeks, you should take the battery out of your laptop. Past the expiration date So when is it time to throw out that old battery? The answer, surprisingly, is "never." Laptop batteries contain lots of toxic chemicals, and should never end up in landfills. Fortunately, e-stewards.org has a list of environmentally responsible recyclers that will take your old battery with no fuss. When is it time to replace your battery, then? Use the free utility apps Becky mentioned, and when they say that your battery can only hold around 25% of its original capacity it's probably time for a new one. You can buy a replacement battery from the original laptop manufacturer, and there are plenty of places online that sell discounted PC laptop batteries, like Laptops for Less and Batteries.com. Owners of newer Mac laptops can get their laptop's non-removable battery swapped out at any Apple store, with a scheduled appointment.

Emimem's King

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Eminem never seems to sleep in the Hip Hop world(except when he was addicted to sleeping pills). He already is the highest selling rapper OF ALL-TIME and now, according to Rolling Stone, he has been crowned the “KING” of Hip Hop! More than half of Eminem’s 7.5 million in sales were taken by Recovery. Now past four million copies in the U.S. alone, Recovery was the best-selling album, period, of 2010. One-fourth of those albums sold digitally, making it the first album in history to sell more than a million non-physical copies, a mark it crossed just last month. Despite losing the Album of the Year Grammy in an upset to Arcade Fire, Recovery still took home Best Rap Album, Eminem’s fifth win that category. It also doesn’t hurt to have a crossover hit song to fuel album sales, and Recovery had a monster: the Rihanna-supported ballad “Love the Way You Lie,” which topped the Hot 100 for two months last year and probably fueled more soccer-mom album purchases for Shady than at any time in his career.

Nick..at nite

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Supermodel Selita Ebanks, who was engaged to “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon a couple of years ago, was very unenthusiastic when discussing her ex fiancee’s skills in the bedroom, as well as their former engagement. “I mean I technically wore a ring but I don’t think I was really engaged,” Ebanks told celebrity gossip columnist Rob Shuter. “I want a Prince. I want Prince Harry. Do you think the queen would accept me?” And as far as kissing she gives Cannon a “meh” but was less enthusiastic about his other, most private asset giving it an even less passionate “meh.” Ebanks, who is now one of the top earning models in the industry, says she knew she was beautiful at just 6 years old. Sitting in front of her mother’s vanity and catching a glimpse of herself she said, “Oh, I could make some money,” and boy was she right. Now she’s making millions, modeling Victoria Secret’s signature Angel wings — which she says protect her. “Well if you’re an angel those other bitches don’t mess with you,” Ebanks dishes. “Behind the scenes you do hear snide remarks. I’ve heard girls literally talk about another girl in her face, and literally if she had claws she would be minced meat.” And although she says she doesn’t judge other people, she does has some advice for larger ladies. “Listen, I love voluptuous women, what bothers me is when they wear spandex. Don’t wear spandex ladies if you are over size 16. Just because it comes in your size does not mean it’s for you. As women we can wear whatever we want, be sexy but just know the difference, everything has a time and place.” Source

Abercrombie's Situation

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Word got out that Abercrombie & Fitch had issued a press release Tuesday night offering to pay The Situation if he stopped wearing A&F clothes. It tarnishes “the aspirational nature of our brand,” they said because aspiration apparently means knocking back Red Bulls and ordering some “za” for an Entourage marathon now. It was a cute little publicity stunt that backfired once everyone started remembering A&F catalogs are basically Aryan child porn and with a target demo comprised entirely of douchecocks, The Situation should be their goddamn Jesus. And Wall St. agreed. TMZ reports: … A day after Abercrombie & Fitch offered him and the other “Jersey Shore” cast members cash NOT to wear its clothes … the company’s stock plummeted 9%. Abercrombie’s stock hit the new low today — the first trading session since the company offered Sitch and the cast substantial $$$ to stop wearing A&F-branded products. Of course the stock fell. When your target demographic is absolute shitheads, alienating the most prominent one on the planet is like McDonald’s issuing a press release saying they hate fat people. Which, honestly, I wish they would because you want to know where the most dangerous stretch of a road always is? Right in front of a McDonald’s. I’m dead serious, people will fucking kill you to make that turn. Later today, at least half of you will be driving only to see someone’s eyes glaze over as they hang the craziest left you’ve ever seen in your life. It’s like the government went to scrap all its mind control experiments and went, “Hey, want this for your burgers? We were just gonna toss it out back by the dumpster.”

InTouch Weekly is reporting that Stacey Dash was not asked to return to the second season of the hit VH1 show. According to sources, Stacey "feuded with the cast, cancelled promos and caused entirely too much drama." According to reports, casting has already been underway for her replacement so that they can begin shooting the next season. It is also rumored that producer Queen Latifah put in the call to fire Stacey herself. J-Lo post divorce

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Jennifer Lopez speaks on her recent divorce: “That was my biggest dream, and I really worked hard at it. We both did,” Jennifer Lopez tells Vanity Fair in her first interview since announcing that she and Marc Anthony are divorcing. “Sometimes it doesn’t work—and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love,” Lopez says. “It’s still my biggest dream. I am positive—determined to move forward with my life, bring up my babies, and do the best job I can as a mother, entertainer, and person. I now look forward to new challenges. I feel strong.” Lopez opens up to contributing editor Lisa Robinson about her life with Anthony and the example she hopes to set for her children; she talks about her relationship with P. Diddy and breaking off her engagement to Ben Affleck; she’s honest about the diva rumors that surround her, and shares her attitudes toward money, fame, and especially love. “I’m a hopeless romantic and passionate person when it comes to love,” Lopez explains, describing the passage that has brought her to her current state of mind. “It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself—if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now.” “I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” Lopez tells Vanity Fair. “We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic—and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.” Source
