Trouble in Miami

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Apparently Chris Brown got in some mess last night in Miami at Club MIA. Some females in his entourage were fighting. The other girls that were fighting tried to hit Chris Brown with a bottle and his bodyguard didn’t want Chris Brown to get hit, so he shielded Chris Brown and got hit with the bottle. One of Chris Brown’s friends got beat up (described as a guy with a funny hair cut). The girls followed him outside and tried to get into his car and fight Chris. Heard it was a wild night. The media was there so it should be pictures all over the Internet (someone described cameras flashing as he was getting in the car and driving off). Source Chris took to his twitter about this situation: when u go places u cant expect poeple to act civilized… i didnt get in a fight or was even involved.. just so u know..love And in case you didn’t know, he really loves women: i love the fragrance of a woman.. and her bottom lip i love u ladies…

R.I.P. Gary Coleman

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Update: The Diff'rent Strokes star succumbed at 12:05 p.m. (MST) today at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center to a brain hemorrhage suffered at his home Wednesday, a statement from his management firm said. According to The Associated Press, Gary Coleman is on life support. SALT LAKE CITY — Former child TV star Gary Coleman is on life support and unconscious after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage at his home, his family said Friday. Coleman suffered the hemorrhage Wednesday at his Santaquin home, 55 miles south of Salt Lake City. Utah Valley Regional Medical Center released the statement on behalf of Coleman's family. It also says Coleman, 42, was conscious and lucid until midday Thursday, when his condition worsened and he slipped into unconsciousness. Coleman was then placed on life support. "At this critical moment, we can only ask for your thoughts and prayers for Gary to make a speedy and full recovery," the family statement said. Coleman has had continuing ill health from a kidney disease he suffered as a child. He had at least two kidney transplants and has ongoing dialysis. An ambulance was called to Coleman's home Wednesday, and he was initially transported to Mountain View Hospital in Payson, the nearest medical facility, said Dennis Howard, Santaquin's director of public safety. The family statement says Coleman was later moved to the regional medical center in Provo for additional tests and treatment. The hospital did not give details on Coleman's condition beyond calling it an intracranial hemorrhage, which is bleeding inside the head.

Online. “It just sucks. It’s the hardest thing to deal with right now.” For now, she’s leaning on Baskett, who told her, “We have to hold hands and walk through this and face this fact,” for strength. “It’s going to be really hard,” she says. “It’s going to probably be the hardest time of our lives.” Source

Kanye West has reportedly got his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose to sign a million dollar contract to keep quiet about their relationship. Media Take Out claims the model has agreed to a ‘seven figure’ deal to stop her revealing all. An insider told the website: “It’s pretty common to have ’silence’ agreements amongst entertainers. I heard that Amber’s getting seven figures to keep her lips closed.” Kanye has recently been working on his fifth solo album in Hawaii, although he’s keeping details of the disc strictly under-wraps. Mrs. Howard?

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
According to EOnline, Terrance Howard has a secret wife. When we talked to Terrence Howard a few days ago at the Cannes Film Festival to give his thoughts on Iron Man 2, we tweeted a photo of him and his lovely lady friend. Little did we know at the time, but that’s the new Mrs. Howard. Yes, the 41-year-old Hustle & Flow star has given marriage another shot, secretly tying the the knot with Michelle Ghent-Howard, 33, in a private Los Angeles ceremony back in January. Howard broke the news to CNN’s Anderson Cooper earlier this week while making the promo rounds for Winnie, a biopic in which he plays Nelson Mandela opposite Jennifer Hudson Winnie Mandela. “To come here and be with my wife, it’s the best feeling in the world,” said the actor. The twosome has been making the Riviera scene this week. Our twitpic was snapped during their stop at the Terazza Martini party for Winnie.

Making the Idol?

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Apparently Simon is getting PAID and Diddy wants his spot: “I have been fronting all this time, trying to act like I don’t want that spot. [But] I spoke to Simon’s business manager, and I found out how much boy makes a week. I am praying right now to ‘American Idol’. I want everybody to get on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and say that Diddy should get the Simon spot — but for the same amount of money that Simon was getting, else it’s a deal-breaker.” Source

J. Cole in Vibe

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
About a month ago, Drake mentioned the possibility of you jumping on a Thank Me Later bonus cut. Fact? Man, me and Drake have been trying to get something done. Actually, if he reads this, tell him to send the shit he supposed to send. [Laughs] I understand we both busy and we spoke about doing some shit, but I guess schedule wise it hasn’t worked out. That would be ill, but as of now it’s not done. What’s an actual conversation like between you guys? Is it past a ‘What’s good’ and ‘Congrats’? It’s not that type of relationship yet. Right now, it’s a mutual respect, like I see what you’re doing, you’re killing the game, I’m a fan or whatever the case is. We’re both young and even though he’s more established and has hits, he still doesn’t have an album out. He still has to prep for that. So we’re not in the position to be best friends. We can save that for when we’re both laid up and chilling, but right now we both have work to do. There’s not many rappers who I feel I really know. I think Wale is one of the few that I have a real friendship with. Not saying that won’t happen with Drake because you never know, but right now it starts with respect. No other industry friends you confide in? Nah man. Even Wale… I don’t want to get that twisted like we have deep conversations about life. I just feel like I know him better than the others. I keep to myself by nature. I bet the groupies don’t like that. How are you handling them? [Laughs] I haven’t figured it out, but it’s not like that for me. I can’t tell you crazy groupie tales. I mean they scream and go crazy as if I’m Drake. [Laughs] The craziest thing that’s happened so far is girls just asking me to sign their breasts, but there hasn’t been any wild backstage stories. I truly believe that your mentality attracts certain things. It’s almost like [groupies] can feel the energy I give off, like it’s probably not going to go down. I mean, I notice them, but that energy stops them in their tracks. That must be what’s happening. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Nas actually quoted one of my lines. I was like ‘Man, don’t quote me'... I used to type Nas lyrics just to put up on my wall" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Safe to assume you’re still with your girlfriend? [Laughs] Yes, we’re still together. It’s easy to count blessings right now, but what do you think has been your biggest mistake thus far? Hmm, I don’t feel like I have any big mistakes. I have missteps, but those all led me to something greater. It wasn’t a harsh lesson, but I learned to be careful with who you let onto your team. Because these people at the end of the day are going to reflect you. If you’ve got a bunch of assholes around you, people might look at you in that light. I don’t want to go into specifics, but I learned that early. On a lighter note, who are some well-known folks you were surprised to learn are J. Cole fans? LeBron! I met LeBron at a show in Cleveland and his homeboy tells me, ‘Yo I ‘m loving the mixtape, especially that one joint, that turn off the lights joint.’ Then LeBron jumps in the conversation—mind you I hadn’t even spoken to him and this nigga got a deep-ass voice—singing “Lights Please.” I was like ‘What you know about that? Please don’t tell me LeBron James listens to my mixtape!’

Teammates with benefits...

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Here’s the icky email that’s been circulating the internet: A large number of NBA employees received a VERY interesting email today regarding a developing LeBron James story. I figured before the ESPN assholes get wind of it, you guys should break the story. The word from David Stern’s office is that Delonte West has been sleeping with LeBron’s MOTHER for a couple months now, and LeBron has recently found out. For some reason Delonte is still alive, but not for long – when Cleveland fans find out that for this reason LeBron wants out of Cleveland no matter what. This could explain Delonte’s decreased playing time of late, and who knows – maybe why LeBron hasn’t seemed to have his head fully in the game. Source

2 for...the baby edition

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
How did it happen? Every month a woman’s ovary releases one egg that can be fertilized by one sperm. But in this case, a pair of eggs emerged. Sperm, meanwhile, can remain alive and well and viable for up to five days in the reproductive tract. Thus a woman can have sex with different men within those five days and the sperm “just kind of hang out there waiting for the egg to be released,” Dr. Hilda Hutcherson, Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University, told Meredith Vieira on TODAY. Washington, who just turned 20, admitted to her partner that she had sex with another man within that five-day window — hence, the double conception. The mystery began to be solved when her partner, 44-year-old James Harrison, became concerned that Justin and Jordan, born only 7 minutes apart, looked so different. A paternity test followed. When he discovered that Justin wasn’t his son, Harrison said, “I was hurt, torn apart — didn’t know what the next move was gonna be,” Harrison said in a taped NBC News segment. Nonetheless, he’s loved both boys the same since then. “I raised him [Justin] from a baby all the way to now. He knows me as his father, and I know him as my son,” Harrison explained. Brotherly love The boys, meanwhile, know each other as brothers. “They’re growing in the same environment,” Washington said, “and they’re getting to know each other and play with each other.” Mia Washington’s ovary released two eggs in the same month, which were fertilized by the sperm of two different men that she had sex with within days of each other. Indeed, the bonding that will grow between the fraternal half-brothers will be the same, said Dr. Hutcherson, who writes monthly sexual health columns in Essence and Glamour magazines and is an online advisor for Parents Magazine and Glamour. “The babies won’t know the difference,” she said. Such occurrences are rare — as rare one in a million, say some. Yet Hutcherson said some studies have shown that 1 to 2 percent of all fraternal twins have different dads. It just doesn’t get noticed sometimes. The technical term is twins by different fathers is “heteropaternal superfecundation.” The first case was reported by John Archer — the first doctor to receive a medical degree in the United States — in 1810. According to Archer, a white woman who had sex with a black man and a white man within a short time later gave birth to twins: one white, the other of mixed race. Washington and Harrison, who are both African-American, say they intend to marry someday. They said they also plan on telling the kids the entire story when they’re old enough to grasp it. Besides its amazing twist, the story also has a mystery: The other father’s identity isn’t being released. And it has a surprise: Washington, who has a 4-year-old son from a different father, says the clan will grow even larger in August. “They’re gonna have a baby sister,” she said. Source

Diddy in Ozone

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Ozone interviewed Diddy in their sex issue: Did Ciroc help fuel the 36-hour tantric love-making session you were talking about on Twitter? (laughs) Naw, that’s not really alcohol-induced, that’s more just like a natural gift and part of me being a Scorpio. Everybody may not be into that type of thing, but that was just something I was expressing with everybody on Twitter, because that’s what I do when it’s time for me to focus on sex—not all the time, but once in a blue moon, if I’m in that mood. I know it probably takes too much concentration with all the breathing techniques and whatnot to have music playing during something like that, but for a normal session what would you say is the best love-making music? You can never go wrong with Jodeci’s Diary of a Mad Band or R Kelly’s 12 Play would work. I think you can really get busy off those two joints right there. In your opinion, who is the best rapper out today? Um, I don’t wanna just give it up to just one person, but I would say my two favorite rappers out today are Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne. I can feel comfortable saying those are two of the best rappers in the game right now. What advice you have given your sons about women? Just to be respectful with women. And also I’m teaching them to make sure that the woman is treating them right. Don’t let no woman not treat you like the king that you are, and make sure you’re treating her like a queen. I have a cousin who is planning on proposing to his girlfriend pretty soon. I know you’ve been able to avoid popping the question thus far, but do you have any advice for someone who wants to propose with the extravagance of Diddy without having the budget? If I propose it probably wouldn’t be in a big “fly her to the top of the mountain” type way, it would probably be more in a sincere way. Women love surprises though, so I would suggest finding a really good way to surprise her without spending too much money.

Free Gucci

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Gucci Mane has been released from jail after serving six months for parole violation. Gucci Mane walked out and was greeted first by friend Shawty Lo before thanking a group of roughly 50 media and fans who congregated outside the jail. “I have made some mistakes in my life that have hurt a lot of people who care about me. I have worked very hard to get past them, but those mistakes have brought me to where I am today, and they will not be repeated,” Gucci stated. “These past six months have been a difficult time but fortunately I have learned a great deal from my experience. I was able to do a great deal of soul searching; I am coming back with a new attitude towards life.” “Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life,” he explained. “This is something I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community.” “The rap game is in need of substance right now…I’m ready to compete, so may the competition begin,” he declared. “I set out five years ago to be the #1 rapper in Hip-Hop. Today that journey continues with an even sharper focus. I challenge all artists to put out the best music they ever made this summer. I will accept nothing less than victory, but I still want worthy opponents.” Source

Drake interview in XXL

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
How many songs are on Thank Me Later? Drake: It’ll probably end up being about 15. But it’s just, you know, I love doing R&B music, I really do. And I just always feel like to tie in hip-hop with R&B and to utilize R&B to glue it all together, that’s my trademark. That’s something that only I can do. And that’s why I will continue to do it. There might come a time where I might be like, “Yo, I just want to do an R&B mixtape, or I just want to do a whole [R&B] album,” but I don’t think so, man. I think that that is the makeup of me—melody and just the tone of my voice and all; I don’t think I could ever change that, so… I’m waiting on the Drake Gangsta Grillz. Drake: [Laughs] I just find that boring, you know. There’s certain people where it’s impressive, like with Lil Wayne, to hear him freestyling over other people’s beats for an hour is impressive because it’s just like, Yo, this guy never runs out of clever shit to say, but for me, people might want to hear it, but it’s just not something that I really want to give you. I’d rather just give you something that lasts a little longer than that ’cause those mixtapes never really last much longer than six months. When the songs become played out, and… Well, it’s different now. It’s like Dedication 2 and Dedication 1 and Jeezy obviously, Trap or Die… Drake: Yeah, but even so, do you listen to those on a constant basis or would you rather put in an album where somebody’s giving you original compositions and moments that maybe apply to your life as opposed to listening to like… I don’t know? I know to listen to freestyles over songs that maybe I’m just sick of, even though somebody kills it, there may be one or two or three that really, really, I love, but other than that, I’d rather just listen to like somebody’s music. There are some special ones. Drake: There are for sure. Do you feel that you can go bar for bar with anybody? Drake: As far as rappers? Um… I’m really still trying to become a better rapper, you know? And I still have idols. I still have people I look up to. I definitely don’t feel that I’m the best I can be nor am I the best rapper. Like I said, I just love making the music, and I’m less concerned about where I stand in the rankings and more about just where I stand with myself, like am I getting better? You know, am I the best I can be? I really don’t care about like compared to Hov or compared to Wayne. That’s another man. I’ve never been really worried about what anybody else is doing. I just use it as reference points and as influence and inspiration, but I don’t really bother myself with thinking who’s the best. ’Cause that doesn’t really matter. It’s just who’s got the songs that move people at the time. Like if you’ve got the title of being the best rapper but you don’t have the hottest songs out? To me, that’s what’s important is just like putting out consistently good product. I don’t really care how they rank me or anything like that. How important is it to be involved in the larger rap conversation? Drake: I definitely want to be great. You know, I’m not saying I don’t care. I obviously care. I love being mentioned in a class of people that are incredible but I mean, you can focus on that shit and drive yourself crazy…. In different genres it’s way different. I think rap is probably the most competitive genre. What’s the difference between writing R&B records and rap records for you? Drake: R&B records, to be honest with you, is kinda like, I mean, process wise, like the way Jay writes raps I guess or the way Wayne writes raps. Like, they don’t write things down, they just like say it in their head and are able to retain all the information in their head [that’s] how I write R&B. I don’t write down the lyrics, I kind of just stand in the booth and I just keep singing and singing until I just find melodies and words that make sense or come together. Or I just stand in there and find melodies that I love and then really go outside of the booth and think about what’s been going on in my life and try to put words to it. R&B though, I mean it’s really pretty much the same content-wise, you know, it’s all pretty honest stuff. I always try to keep in mind that both male and female will be listening to it so I try to make R&B music that’s not too sappy and not too “girl this” and “girl that” just so that like I sound like a man who’s thinking. I sound like a man who’s confident just so that it’s not awkward for other men to listen to. And then at the same time I try to keep it empowering for women. Really I just like, I like my R&B to feel a certain way and then I that feeling is usually evident so when I get there I’m like okay, yeah, yeah, this is it. I’ve heard folks say that writing R&B records can be more difficult because there are less words to work with. Drake: Yeah, I don’t know, to be honest with you, I kinda think that more words can often be more room for error. Like when you have to write a 16 bar verse or a 32 bar verse, which I often do, I feel like that can also be more difficult. I also feel like one of my biggest attributes or talents is finding melody. You know me and [my producer] 40 can sit together and pick melodies that other singers would probably just use as like a harmony but they just become so prominent when you use them as a lead. And yeah, to me, with R&B, I just don’t take it that serious where it’s like I’m an R&B singer and this song has to sound a certain type of way and if not then no one’s going to respect me, you know? I just kinda really allow myself to just have fun. I’m able to let go and just see what comes of it all the time. You know, because it’s the icing on the cake. It’s something that if I’m able to pull it together, I just see it as a plus. When we do get it right, it really adds a dynamic to my career. Earlier you said, you can make just rap records and cater to a small segment, like how important is that to you? Or is it all about just being successful and making records to be successful? Drake: Like to me, I think about them all the time because you know, I really do care about what they have to say, you know? …I still go on the websites like NahRight, like, I care, I really do care. So like I said, when I do have a chance to get in a rap mode, like for example I did this song off my album last night called “The Resistance.” It’s the song that comes right before “Over” and, man, that was one of those songs where I was like, you know, I really gotta take the time and write this song because it’s an opportunity to really rap and show people that I actually do care about rap and care about what you think about my flows and care about what you think about me as a rapper even if I have a crazy hook on it, which I do… But I still factor them into my thoughts. I haven’t let them go yet, that hip hop population that’s so judgmental and maybe hates everything I’m doing right now ’cause I’m doing it on such a grand scale and they feel like not a part of it all or they feel like I’ve abandoned them and what they stand for. I still think about them all the time. How do you respond to the hate? Drake: I don’t respond. I cut myself off from outlets where I would be able to say anything anyway, but it’s really not my style to really say anything to people, you know. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, man, honestly, the music feedback I don’t really trip off of ’cause I know everybody likes their own thing so I don’t really trip when someone doesn’t like my music because what you’ll tend to do is there’ll be 40 people that say, “Oh, dope song,” and then there’ll be one guy that’s like, “Yo, this dude’s overrated, fuck Drake,” and that’s the one you’ll pay attention to. That one guy will make you feel like everybody’s online dissing you so it’s easy to get caught up in the trap of the feedback. But to be honest that’s not even the stuff that bothers me, man. You want to know what really bothers me? What? Drake: What really bothers me is that fact that all my life, I always get caught in the worst, most unphotogenic poses ever. Now people follow me with cameras and are just clicking away and I always feel like I just look mad different in pictures. I hate seeing pictures of myself online when I’m leaving a spot or whatever; I just always get caught laughing ’cause I’m always outside making jokes or whatever with the people, but I always end up looking so stupid like that’s the shit that I’m always like, “Man, I wish that didn’t happen,” you know? But as for people’s opinions and shit like that, it’s all good. That’s what’s going to happen. You know people are entitled to their opinion and it takes a certain type of individual to really come online and give their opinion of your music, positive or negative. I don’t know if you do it, but I can’t say I’ve ever gone online and posted underneath someone’s song, and be like, “Dope song, son.” Or, “That shit is wack.” I’ve never done that before. It’s just a certain community of people that really feel like that’s their outlet and I know that me and my friends aren’t any of them so I don’t know who those people are and I can’t really take their opinion too close to heart just because I’m not really sure what those people are made of and if their opinion’s even valid so I just kind of keep it moving. If it all ended today, if it got taken away, what would you want people to take away? Drake: It can’t end yet. It can’t end yet because the story’s not done.

Cheaper to keep her

Just last month, rapper Nas was ordered to pay more than $87,000 up front in back spousal and child support. In addition to that, the judge ordered the New York rapper to pay his soon-to-be ex wife Kelis $10,000 a month in child support and an undisclosed amount for monthly child support until he makes up the nearly $300,000 that he owes. But Nas (real name: Nasir Jones) says there’s no way he can afford to pay all of that right now! Originally, the judge presiding over Nas and Kelis’ divorce case based the amount Nas was to pay off of an estimated $152,031 per month income, but in new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Nas says he makes “substantially less than that amount.” So now his lawyer Marc Vincent Kaplan wants the judge to take another look at his finances to adjust the payments accordingly. Hopefully his new project with Damien Marley will pay off so that he can finally finish making payments on that expensive azz milkshake! Source

Not Feeling the Love

DPP Published in Untagged  by DPP | Comment (0)
Jermaine Dupri feels disrespected by Usher: There was some talk that you were going to executive produce Usher’s latest album Raymond v. Raymond. Why didn’t it happen? Well, I didn’t really want to be executive producer of Usher’s projects after Confession. Me as a producer, it’s kind of hard for me to go back into people’s projects when I gave you your biggest album ever…you sold more records than any other artist in this decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me. Obviously, I’m looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it’s the label, the artist, management… whoever it is. I’ve had this same conversation with L.A. Reid, because I’m doing Mariah Carey’s album right now. And on her last album, I didn’t have one song on there. But I did Emancipation of Mimi and she sold more records than she sold in the last five years. What part of the game makes y’all not call me? But I’m not going to keep sticking my neck out. But I don’t feel like I’m supposed to ask to produce anymore. People are supposed to come to me and tell me that I’m the executive producer. That’s why I get more kicks working with younger artists. Will you be involved in Janet Jackson’s next project? I can tell you that she’s not working on an album. We just did the one song (“Nothing”) for the Why Did I Get Married Too soundtrack, which was released off of So So Def. Last time I heard she really didn’t want to do an album. She wanted to just do singles every once in a while. She’s looked at the marketplace—albums are not really doing what they usually do when you put all this budget out there. Janet is just trying to figure out her landscape. Source

According to MSN, this movie did well: The Warner/New Line reboot of “Nightmare on Elm Street” enjoyed the best April/May horror opening ever this weekend, grossing $32.2 million in the U.S. and Canada, according to studio estimates on Sunday. Penned by franchise creator and produced by Michael Bay, the latest “Nightmare” features Jackie Earle Haley in the title role Robert Englund held through nine films starting in 1984. “Nightmare”’s opening already has the studio committing to a 3-D sequel. “We don’t have a story yet, but this is the largest horror opening in the April-May corridor, and it just proves there’s a lot left in the franchise,” said Warner distribution president Dan Fellman.

LisaRaye, and the beautiful ladies Lauren London and Stacey Dash will be starring in a new VH1 show titled “Single Ladies”. Written by award-winning actress and MC, Queen Latifah, Single Ladies, which begins four-day rehearsals and filming in Atlanta this week, revolves around the romantic relationships of three friends and is meant to fulfill fans of The CW’s Girlfriends and HBO’s Sex In The City. “When Girlfriends got off the TV we didn’t have anything else to relate to,” says McCoy.”This would be something else as a series so we can do more and be a little bit more risqué.” Dash—who was first vying for a reality show with VH1—plays a celebrity stylist who is experiencing autonomy for the first time. “My character is very similar to my own life because I’ve never been single. Literally, since I’ve been 17 years old. She’s never been married, the character that I’m playing, whereas I’ve been married three times, so that’s the difference,” Dash says. “It’s a really good script.” McCoy’s character, a video vixen, is a bit more experienced than Dash’s. “She doesn’t have one of anything nor does she believe in having one man. She believes in dating and being able to explore her possibilities. She’s much like Samantha of Sex in the City,” explains the Player’s Club star. “Very straight up and honest. She’s the one that has that spunk, I’d like to say that she’s the slut of the three.” McCoy, currently starring in her own reality show, TV One’s The Real McCoy, also mentioned to VIBE that London plays a younger, semi-shy character married to an NBA player. Although London will be a recurring character in the show, her rep confirms that the role is small. FYI: This is VH1’s first-ever scripted series. The show’s air date is still unknown.
